As change agents, residential assisted living caregivers have much to learn about the art of supporting a meaningful death experience from end-of-life doulas. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]The word “doula” applies to those who support the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of the dying. Join the conversation with two passionate end-of-life doulas and explore how their wisdom empowers the experiences of seniors in assisted living.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]Their practices are known to strengthen the goals of person-directed care. Originally, she was a middle school social studies teacher and a coach/Athletic Director. After her husband’s death from cancer, she began to see life differently. Jane became passionate about death on many levels. She helps dying people and their caregivers prepare for what is to come on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. As a death educator, Jane hopes that everyone can begin to see that death is the ultimate partner in life. Death helps us to be grateful, present and make the most of our time here on earth.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]Sandra L. Place, LNHA, MA, Healthcare Educator and Consultant and End-of-Life Doula. Sandra is a Healthcare Consultant and Educator, a licensed nursing home administrator and holds certifications in several holistic modalities. Sandra has been in health care administration for over 38 in a variety of settings. She is a long-time advocate of elder-directed care and utilizes her graduate degrees in psychology and holistic health to aid homes in the development of innovative nursing home programs. Nursing homes under Sandra’s leadership have won numerous state and national quality awards and honors, including the Eden Alternative’s Path to Mastery Milestone Four achievement. Sandra is a Certified Eden Alternative Mentor, Educator and Path to Mastery Guide and teaches at the Michigan State University Henry Center for Executive Development, as an instructor for the Nursing Home Administrator’s Course.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]
