July 2023 Newsletter

Freedom and Independence. Those words mean so much to so many.

This week our nation commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, a document that outlines the basic rights and freedoms to which all Americans are entitled. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

No matter how it is defined, freedom is essential to human prosperity. It allows us to reach our full potential, make our own choices, and live our lives as we see fit. It is a liberty that not all around the world are fortunate to enjoy.

Freedom is not just about the absence of oppression. It is also about the presence of opportunity. We all want freedom. The freedom to live a meaningful life. The opportunity to pursue our dreams.

Regardless of how you choose to celebrate the 4th of July, we wish you a safe and joyous time with family and friends this holiday week.

Happy Independence Day,
Your friends at the RAL Academy

Meet Carla Lee Martinez

Carla Lee began as Gene’s star student in 2015. With some real estate experience, she attended the 3-Day Fast Track course, then went home and opened 3 RAL homes in New Mexico within 5 months! She now has 9 RAL homes and works with RAL Academy to help others replicate her success.

She loves working in the assisted living space, especially when she sees students open their own homes and make a positive impact in their communities. “It’s so rewarding to see others succeed in their purpose while doing good and doing well!”

In her free time, she is an avid CrossFitter, resonating with the friendly yet competitive atmosphere. Her ability to see obstacles from all angles and find the right solution for each situation makes her an incredible asset to the RALA team and a great resource for those in this industry.

She credits Gene Guarino as having a major influence in her life, “I was able to stand on his shoulders and create a thriving RAL business of my own.”

We are so proud of everything Carla Lee has accomplished and the impact she continues to have on so many in this industry.

Her advice for those new to RAL is, “Be yourself, be enthusiastic, and recognize that there are going to be speed bumps. Have a plan, take action, and know that it’s not a straight line. Remember, there is no such thing as failure, only feedback.”

Do You Need Medical Experience for RAL?

It’s easy to assume that you need medical experience in order to own and operate a residential assisted living facility, but that’s far from the truth. You are the owner and not the administrator or caregiver, so you don’t necessarily have to have experience in this field! Watch to learn how being a residential assisted living home owner and operator works and why you don’t need any kind of medical experience to be one!
